MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Search warrants served by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation show that agents were looking for evidence of gambling, bribery and official misconduct when they raided the offices of Millington's mayor and other city departments.
Documents released by Shelby County Criminal court Friday show investigators were ordered to take financial and computer records, police badges and gambling paraphernalia from Millington Mayor Richard Hodges' office July 27.
TBI Special Agent David Harmon writes in an affidavit that there is evidence Hodges spoke over the phone about gambling at an area transmission shop and asked for money in return for a police badge.
Vince Higgins, a spokesman for Shelby County's district attorney, tells the Associated Press that no one has been charged.
Hodges did not immediately return messages Friday.
