BARTLETT, TN-Friday evening, May 1, 2009, police confirmed they had found the body of a missing Bartlett woman in Northeast Shelby County along the Loosahatchie River, just off of Brunswick Road. Police say Micah Pate’s husband admitted accidentally shooting her, and that Thomas Pate led them to her body.

Bartlett police say Thomas Pate originally told them he had last seen his wife Thursday evening, April 30, 2009, as she went for a run around 8:30 p.m. He called police to report her missing about two hours later.

Friday afternoon, Pate’s co-workers helped search for her along the route she usually ran, and handed out fliers.

Friday evening, shortly after friends and family held a vigil for the missing woman at a church in East Memphis, Bartlett police found Micah Pate’s body.

Police say Thomas Pate will be charged tomorrow, Saturday, May 2, 2009.

shelby and sherman need to be quiet and show some respect. this couple went to my church... a lot of people were really upset yesterday about what happened. it's just awful. instead of taking focus off of the victim in the story to put it on your own stupid idiotic ranting agenda, why don't the lot of you just leave these forums because it's just plain ugly to come in here and see this mess. micah was a bright light in this world and it's really unfortunate to see her leave so early.

User abcdefg could not be any more right. Prayers for this family and for this city need to go up tremendously at this time. We need to lift up each other instead of hate each other. The Pate family and this city are in my prayers.

Sherman – I normally do not directly acknowledge your racist comments for obvious reasons. Not every forum is for you to whine about race. In this case, you directly named me so I’ll make an exception. When I make a statement about race, it is based on 'crime statistics'. That is not racist; it’s acknowledging a serious problem. In your case, with this article, you saw a news story about a ‘couple’ and your comment was, “sad....white men are crazy “. You didn’t even have the decency to add a condolence for the woman killed. Your ‘issues’ speak volumes in both your first and your last statements. Your credibility is shot. Crime statistics are what they are..don't whine or blame others for your inability to accept them. As I previously stated, this guy could be green, I don't care. Bottom line, he murdered his wife!

ya know, it's pretty sad that everyone is commenting on people being racist, a woman has lost her life here, if someone doesnt have anything nice to say then they shouldnt say anything at all( i mean about being racist)! that's how i feel about this situation

THE VERY FIRST comment sums it ALL up. Ive viewed 3 stories thus far, 2 pertaining to a white suspect and the other one a black suspect. Ive noticed on the 2 with WHITE suspects, comments along the lines of "whats wrong with crazy white folk?" And i mean right out of the gate. You can tell this "racism" or "hatred" or whatever it is is right on the tips of these peoples tongues and thoughts. Anyway, I noticed NOTHING along those lines on the BLACK suspect story. Great double standards(as normal) huh? It just seems like these comments are ALWAYS made by the SAME group of people......Thanks SHERMAN, for showing us how intelligent and "not racist" you are!!!! PS--that was sarcasm SHERMAN....

What a tragedy. I am sure this young man will pay many times over for what he has done. Two families lost their children. I am not a judge neither are most who are commenting. We have no idea what happened behind the scenes. We live in such crazy times. I have lived in many different parts of the country and I am shocked at the hatred that resides in many forms in the mid-south. Any issue can bring up bigotry whether in the form of race, sex or religion. Hate is everywhere but it seethes here like a festering wound. We are all humans. We make mistakes. The important part is to learn from our mistakes. Evolve and move forward. Wallowing in hates of the past is not getting any of us anywhere. Look past the blinders you wear and see with compassion for once the pain the other is feeling. It's called empathy. It's called being Human. Blessings.
