SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - An 8-year-old Southaven boy, reported missing Wednesday night, was found safe at a friend's home Thursday morning.
James Cooper Truett, who goes by Cooper, was reported missing from the Southcrest Lake Apartments in Southaven around 11 p.m. on March 14. According to the child's mother, the boy went out to play after dinner and was last seen around 8 p.m. The family contacted police after they were unable to find him around the complex.
The mother also told investigators that Cooper has a learning disability and "has the mind of a 4-year-old."
Cooper Pruett was found safe at a nearby friend's home shortly after 11 a.m. the next day; he had spent the night at their home without telling his parents.
Southaven Police, Southaven Fire and the DeSoto Co. Sheriff's Office all assisted in the search.
