OLIVE BRANCH, MS (abc24.com) - There's drive-thru fast food and drive-up ATMs. You can even pick up a prescription without leaving your car. But what about a fast way to pray?

An Olive Branch church has a new drive-thru prayer ministry doing just that.

"Everybody needs prayers, wants prayers," says Mississipian Sharon Taylor.

But not everybody goes to church.

"We're getting lazy. We don't want to walk too far and we don't want to get dressed up," Taylor laughs.

At Temple Baptist Church you don't need to do any of that. Members are bringing prayers directly to you in your car.

"Any kind of request," says Pastor James Woods. "We know that people are carrying all sorts of burdens. We're open to praying for them whatever their need is."

Woods and his congregation's 'Drive-Thru Prayer Ministry' starts next Friday.

"They'll be at their vehicles, roll their windows down and we'll pray with them there in their automobiles," Woods says.

The fast way to pray will happen on the second Friday of every month from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

"If you don't go to a regular church, and maybe want prayer for a special need, I think it would be helpful," Taylor adds.

It is all about convenience, Woods says. He believes this new way to pray can open doors without drivers ever having to open theirs.

"We'll start in June and hopefully as the Lord leads we'll continue and it will be an ongoing ministry."

East Win Christian Church in Southeast Memphis has been doing this for years. It's an amazing way to get in touch with the community. This year they are doing a Sports Camp June 4-8 as an alternative for those in the community who may be intimidated by a 'traditional' Vacation Bible School. They pre-rgistered their 100th child today where they usually have an average of 80 attendees per night.
