MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Mo' Money Tax Services says a computer glitch is partially to blame for a delay in handing out refund checks to customers.
"People are getting their checks, checks are being printed, we've gotten over that hump," said Shandon Allen, a manager at Mo' Money Tax Services said late Thursday afternoon.
Allen said a computer glitch between the IRS and the bank that handles Mo' Money's returns caused the delay.
"Our misfortune was exploited by possibly other people who, you know, who just don't like us for whatever reason, so that makes it worse," said Allen.
The problems weren't limited to just Mo' Money.
"We have gotten checks from the IRS," said Janice Forrest, Office Supervisor for a Jackson Hewitt office in Whitehaven. "We've gotten quite a few, as a matter of fact, we got checks yesterday, but we didn't get them for everyone."
The Internal Revenue Service also said some returns were delayed as it fine-tuned some software to help target refund fraud.
Allen says the company hopes to have the backlog cleared by Friday evening.
