Memphis, TN (abc24.com)- Mo' Money is saying no more. The embattled tax service company says after receiving death threats, and countless angry customers, it will no longer be handing out tax refund checks.
Instead, Mo' Money co-founder Markey Granberry says the company's California-based bank will mail the checks directly to customers. Granberry says the Internal Revenue Service is now dealing exclusively with Mo' Money's bank to mail those checks.
Scott Free says no one told him the check was in the mail. As he stood outside the Mo' Money office in Southaven, MS, he pulled out his phone to show how he called Mo' Money 19 times Monday, to learn the status of his return.
"It started out, the 20th she give us the return, the 27th the return, the 3rd return, then the 10th the return," Free said. "Now it's the 17th the return, we've got so many dates from this lady my calendar is marked plum full, just for this place."
Free's wife Carolyn looked through the windows into the dark office.
"I want to see if they cleaned the building out because, they just give us the run-around."
Natalie Jones soon joined the couple. Jones has been coming by the office for more than a week, trying to figure out when she'll get her refund check.
"Every time you come, this is what you get, nothing, door's closed," Jones said as she pulled on the locked door.
"It is no hard feelings against nobody, no threats like they said on the door, none of that, not from me, i just want my money" she said.
