MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Road crews were called to repair a section of I-55 North at I-240 in Memphis after the pavement buckled in the center lane Monday morning.

According to Nicole Lawrence with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the buckling was first reported around 7 a.m. on Monday, July 9 at mile marker 6.4. Buckling in pavement is caused by moisture and excessive temperatures.

The buckling occurred in a construction area as the center lane was being repaved. That lane has been shut down to replace the pavement.

TDOT estimates repairs to be completed by 1 p.m.
