MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Millington woman was arrested after she intentionally wrecked her vehicle in a domestic dispute with her toddler son in the car.
According to the police affidavit, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to a car accident at Martin Road and Division Lane around 8 p.m. on April 16. Once they arrived on the scene, they found out from the parties involved that the wreck was intentional and had stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Investigators stated in an affidavit that 28-year-old Crystal Brookins and her boyfriend had gotten in a fight when he called a friend to pick him up. When his friend arrived, Brookins got in her van and started ramming the friend's SUV. He was able to drive away but Brookins made a u-turn, pulled behind him and began hitting the back of the vehicle until he lost control, ran off the road and rolled over.
Brookins, who had her 2-year-old son in the van with her throughout the entire incident, admitted to drinking beer and taking prescription drugs prior to the accident. She was charged with two counts Aggravated Assault, DUI and Child Endangerment. She is currently being held on $55,000 bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 18.
