Jefferson Tao, "After years and years of harassment, searches and arrests over petty nonsense, people have had enough." Enough what? Arrests over petty nonsense, like breaking windows and purse snatching? What is a petty offense that you think does not deserve an arrest. You'll be harassed if you hang with known criminals. You'll be searched if act suspiciously and not have any legitimate reason for being in a high crime area. Breaking the law is, just that, breaking the law. Crime prevention is, just that, crime prevention. Do they sometimes live on the edge of legality? Probably. And I for one am glad they do. Finding stolen property using an illegal search is OK with me. But I think it should only be illegal if they find nothing. Finding a loaded gun on a teen thug using an illegal search is OK with me. If they find nothing, accept their apology, and move along. If you are being harassed, it's probably because they are looking for you to move along. Cops ain't stupid. Most read people pretty well. The problem you have is they read you too. If you are being harassed, I would find a different place and/or group of people to hang with. If you look for trouble, you will find it.

I agree, Jeff. It does seem that cops have a lot of time for minor drug crap and seat belt violations, etc. I see them on the interstate pulling folks over and emptying their car. (a lot of black people) If they find cash, a lot them KEEP it, w/o any criminal charges. If cops don't like their compensation package, they are free to go elsewhere.

and our asstard Mayor wants to decrease the number of officers on the streets. They deserve way more than they get. People say that to get respect you have to earn it, thats why the citizens are acting the way they are. its called officer safety. Our officers deal with so much crap on a day to day basis, so if there is a reason to search or question you, get over yourself and deal with it. Maybe they're being short with you because they just left a call with a DOA 2 month old. You have no idea. while you are running away from the gunfire, they are running towards it ready to protect. give them what they deserve

After years and years of harassment, searches and arrests over petty nonsense, people have had enough. If police want to be seen as peace officers, on duty for the people and not against them, then they need to behave like it. Treating decent people like criminals and profiling is not helping police relations either.
