MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Police are investigating after a body was found in a ravine near Crump and Mississippi Boulevard in South Memphis. The discovery has one mother fearing the worst.

Investigators put a garbage can on a gurney; inside, likely the victim's body. They found what appeared to be an ID where it was discovered.

If they know who the person is, they're not telling. Betty Boyce heard about the discovery and fears the worst.

“I asked well let me know if it's a lady, I wanted to know. I wanted to know if it's my daughter because my daughter is missing,” Boyce said.

Boyce says her daughter, Domonique, has been missing for two weeks.

Police say the body has been at the location for quite some time, but it's too early to know if the victim is linked to any missing persons reports.

“I'm just hoping that's none of my relatives because I know they walk through this area all the time” said Antrinika Mckinley.

“I hope it's not a female or nobody with kids cause that's a hurtful loss,” added Tressie Johnson.

Police did not say if the victim was a man or woman, but sources tell abc24.com the person found was a woman.

As investigators comb for clues and more details surrounding the victim's death, a mother of a missing woman is preparing for the worst.
