MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A mother and her 2-year-old son are recovering from gunshot wounds after shots were fired into their Raleigh-Frayser area home early Saturday morning.

Memphis police were called to the 4200-block of Nam-Ni Drive just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14. When they arrived they found a 23-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son had been shot. Both were transported to hospitals in critical condition. The child has since been released from Le Bonheur Children's Hospital; the mother was last reported in non-critical condition at The MED.

Investigators say the victims were asleep when several shots were fired into the home. Six other people, three juveniles and three adults, were also present at the time of the shooting but were not injured.

So far there are no suspects in custody.
