MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - Authorities say a Kentucky man who narrowly avoided an out-of-control tractor trailer rig that crashed into a convenience center in Arlington was later arrested at the Memphis airport with a firearm in his suitcase.

Police said on Wednesday morning a truck traveling on Interstate 40 jumped a concrete island and slammed into the station. The driver of the truck and passenger were the only ones injured, but the crash disabled the car of 58-year-old Rick Ricks, of Louisville.

When Ricks tried to catch a flight home later that day, security officers at Memphis International Airport found a 9 mm pistol in his suitcase. Ricks told authorities he forgot the gun was in his bag and he was arrested and released after posting a $5,000 bond.
