LAKELAND, TN (abc24.com) - 47 people were detained and one person was arrested after an underage party got out of hand in Lakeland late Saturday night.
Officers were called to a noise complaint on the 4200-block of Chalmette Drive around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. When they arrived, they found a large number of minors drinking alcohol at a house party and a strong smell of marijuana in the garage of the home. Around 20 people fled the scene, but 47 were detained.
One juvenile was found extremely intoxicated and vomited up several pills in the back of a squad car. She was taken to St. Francis Bartlett and was last reported in stable condition.
Several adults present were issued misdemeanor citations; the person responsible for the home, 18-year-old Leighton Davenport, told officers the homeowners, his grandparents, were out of town on vacation at Pickwick Lake. Around 15 cases of beer and 12 guns were found at the residence.
Davenport became combative with officers and resisted arrest, according to the police affidavit. He was arrested and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of Minors, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Providing Beer and Liquor to Minors. He was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.
