GERMANTOWN, TN – There was no red carpet, but there was a movie premiere Tuesday February 15, 2011 in Germantown.
The documentary “Hometown Glory” uses the tagline: “Before they were men they were heroes.”
It chronicles the story of Germantown teenagers who risked their lives as firefighters to protect their town.
The film was made by Ray Costa, who knows his subject well. He was one of those teenage firefighters.
“Hometown Glory is a documentary about the Germantown Fire Department,” Costa told abc24.com, “specifically the high school students who made up the majority of the fire department back in the 70’s and early 80’s, and I was one of those firefighters. So, it’s a coming of age story of the kids, the town and the chief who was like a father figure to us.”
Hometown Glory recently won the ‘Best Documentary’ award at the Mississippi International Film Festival. It also received an award at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
