MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A new initiative by Shelby County Child Support Services aims to help parents get back on track with child support payments without fear of jail time.
The initiative, dubbed PROJECT N.O.W. (Negotiating Outstanding Warrants), is for non-custodial parents who have arrest warrants for not paying their child support. Those looking to have their warrants dismissed and can commit to compliance with their child support obligations will also be able to work with PROJECT N.O.W. staff to restore revoked licenses.
PROJECT N.O.W. will take place on Saturday, July 21 at the Whitehaven and Ed Rice Community Centers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents will need to pay a $500 fee to begin the dismissal process. Also, various community organizations will be on hand to advise parents on employment and visitation.
