MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It's lights out for the Knights Out Bar on Jackson Avenue in north Memphis. The Shelby County District Attorney's office shut the bar down Thursday night, calling it a public nuisance.
Agents with the West Tennessee Drug Task Force say they bought Hydrocodone, Xanax and marijuana four different times from a mother and daughter who worked as bartenders.
"This is certainly an area my office takes seriously," said Amy Weirich, Shelby County District Attorney. "It's not fair to people on this street that are trying to run their businesses in a legitimate way to have this activity going on and bringing down the community around it."
44-year-old Catherine Kelley and her daughter, 20-year-old Tonya Kelley, are both charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
The owner has been ordered to appear in court on the nuisance charge next week.
