MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A standoff in a northeast Memphis neighborhood last night ended with neighbors wondering what's next.
It happened on the 6600-block of Santaolina at a home that neighbors already fear. They say the woman who owns the house barricaded herself inside after she tried to run over one of them.
It's not the first time this scene played out on that street. Since fall of 2010, neighbors have complained about Melinda Anthony's blaring music, cursing and screaming death threats at neighbors. Police were called to her address at least four times.
Neighbors say living next door is a nightmare.
"She's still causing a ruckus and friction and she has never let up and what's it going to take for the system to wise up to her?" said neighbor Theresa Thomas. "I don't know, but sending her to mental evaluations. It gets old."
Several neighbors have filed orders of protection against Anthony, and she has been arrested for violating some of those orders.
Anthony had a 12-hour standoff with officers when they were called to her home in September 2010. The SWAT team had to be called before she was taken in for a mental evaluation.
