Occupy Memphis protesters rallied downtown Tuesday. The group was speaking out and marching in support of protesters in New York City who were kicked out of their camp the night before.

@Realtalk - what shallow reading of my post lead you to think I don't want to create a change? I am very active in my community, I stay informed of current affairs and frequently engage in public meetings. Your view is the pessimistic one by presuming that I am uninvolved in seeking change. I am involved but not by camping out in a public park, shouting down those with opposing views, nor defecating in public. One can achieve positive change through unoffensive activities. I have voted in EVERY election since I was old enough to vote. I have always studied the issues, ballots, and candidates to that I am an informed voter - not just voting a party line but voting my convictions and have never lost my love and appreciation for what is possible while working within "the system." Heal thyself!!

@realtalk, Why so critical of AJ? Your response was pretty assuming, nearly defensive, and mostly ignorant in the way it was presented. To answer your question, I myself vote. I voice my opinion where I can. And I served my country. What do you do?

To AJ Calhoun: If you've studied history, why don't you want to create a change for a better future? You must know the route we are headed if we do not.. Yes, a democratic republic is the truth.. but pessimistic internet comments will never change the world or the corrupted system. If you believe the system is broken and needs repair, ask yourself, what am I doing to change this?

To the poor misguided soul who is bemoaning that they want democracy restored . . . this country was NEVER a democracy. Our founding fathers established a democratic-republic because a simple democracy will ALWAYS devolve into mob rule - just like the OWS protesters are doing now. Notice that they do not permit any dissent from their opinions. Only one opinion is allowed - the mob voice - the anti-establishment antics of people who have never supported themselves nor contributed to the tax roles in this country - they are either on assistance or still suckling on their parents accounts. I admit the system is broken but it needs repair not demolition. Grow-Up. Study history and then form an educated opinion.
