MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Investigators say booze and a fight over a car radio led to the arrest of an off-duty Memphis police office Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the 2800-block of Old Austin Peay in the Raleigh area around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. Investigators say off-duty officer Lazarus Settle, 47, and his girlfriend had gotten into a fight over the volume of the car radio. Lazarus told his girlfriend to get out of the car, and as she did, took the keys from the ignition. While they fought over the keys, they both fell down a hill, sustaining minor injuries. Responding officers say both had been drinking.

Officer Settle was arrested and charged with Simple Assault/Domestic Violence, DUI, and Refusal to Submit to a BAC Test. He has since been released from jail on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 18.

Lazarus Settle has been with the Memphis Police Department since January 2009. He has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
