MEMPHIS, TN-- The second annual Olympic Toy Drive giveaway is back at the Neighborhood Christian Center in north Memphis. The problem is, there aren't enough toys for all the families in need.
"It means a lot to me because this is something that I don't have to try to get out and get myself, and then I appreciate what their doing for us," said Melva Pulliam.
Between now and next Thursday, hundreds of families will stop by the Olympic Cares Toy Drive to pick up Christmas gifts.
Last month, those in need signed up for toy store vouchers. All 800 slots were filled quickly.
Families are now returning with vouchers in hand, only to find there are not enough toys.
"We need people to dig deep inside they pockets as well as they are, and bring more toys," said Christian Davis.
Toys are needed for boys and girls ages 7-12. Not only are children looking to receive, some stopped by to give.
"A lot of people need things, and this a good thing what they're doing. God will bless them," said Annie Hilliard.
Anyone can drop off toys from now until next Thursday, December 20th, at the Neighborhood Christian Center at 785 Jackson Ave. The center is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
