One Year Later, DeSoto Christians Still Committed to Prayer

Last year, the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation threatened to sue the DeSoto County Schools in order to get prayers before football games banned. The district reluctantly gave in, but students and parents are keeping prayer alive.

GoldenTaint, xtians never let Jesus get in the way of their right wing politics. Christianity, as practiced today in this country has little or nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus. And yes, you are right. According to their magic book, the Bible, Jesus said to pray at home behind closed doors and not babble in public "like the pagans". But of course they pick and choose verses to suit their political ideology.

@ Religiion...your statement shows how much you know about prayer and our beliefs...you don't just pray at certain times &/or places. It's a lifestyle. If they were keeping up their beliefs b/c of 'political statements' they would have made a BIG deal about the Wisconsin group that is going around the United States trying to take away our frredoms, b/c they believe differently!!!! The joy & pride of this great nation is the fact that we are FREE to believe and speak how we choose...FREEDOM!!!! No one will tell me that I can't speak of the Almighty God whereever I so please, sing Him praises or Pray when felt led to do so. But until these crazed groups relize these things..I'll be praying for them as well....God Bless!

I am very proud of Desoto county!! They are not pushing prayer onto anyone, but they are standing up for their own "freedom of speech". People should be allowed to pray anytime they need or want to, wheather it be outloud or in their hearts. The same as the people who don't wish to participate don't have to! Way to go Desoto county!!!!

They are not "committed to prayer". They are committed to making political statements about right wing ideology. That is all they are doing. If they were really committed to prayer, they would be doing it in church and behind closed doors, not babbling in public.
