MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) — A plane bound for Houston had to make an emergency landing at Memphis International Airport after the crew noticed the plane had tire damage.
ExpressJet, the operator of the United Express flight, said in a statement that the flight took off from Memphis shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday and had to circle back to the airport after a problem with the landing gear was noticed. The plane landed back at Memphis shortly before 8:30 p.m.
Memphis Fire Department spokesman Lt. Wayne Cooke told The Commercial Appeal that 44 passengers were removed from the plane and there were no injuries.
Fire crews were standing by with fire suppression foam, but did not need to use it.
