BARTLETT, TN - 3 men have been arrested after crashing their car during a police chase.
Bartlett Police say David Tarrant, Roosevelt Lewis and Ronald Clinton have been arrested for a variety of charges including robbery, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment.
On Friday, May 20, 2011 around 5:30 PM, managers from the Schnuck's Grocery Store at Kirby-Whitten and Stage Road called police to file a shoplifting complaint against the 3 suspects.
Schnuck's employees gave a description of the suspects' vehicle, driven by Clinton, which helped police quickly find the men.
Several Bartlett Detectives in the area saw the suspects' car stopped at a traffic light near the store. One officer walked toward the car, but Clinton swerved out of the lane, hit the policeman and sped away.
Clinton then drove on I-40, intentionally ramming and trying to disable a BPD car. Clinton drove the suspects off the interstate and continued toward the area around Shady Grove and Yates, where he crashed into a utility pole.
The suspects were arrested and taken to The MED for treatment of minor injuries. 3 members of the Bartlett police force were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries, and they are expected to be quickly treated and released.
David Tarrant and Roosevelt Lewis were both charged with robbery and resisting arrest.
Ronald Clinton was charged with driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, disregard for a red light, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, felony evading, robbery, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and simple assault.
