NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - Metro Nashville Police say a fatal shooting came as two men prepared to shoplift from a supermarket.

Aaron Mealer, who was 21 years old, was shot in the face as he sat in his car outside a Kroger store late Wednesday. Also in the car were 20-year-old Kenyatta Patton, Mealer's wife and another woman, according to The Tennessean.

Patton told police he and Mealer planned to shoplift from the store and a gun he was holding discharged as he got out of the car, killing Mealer.

Police charged Patton with criminal homicide. The women in the car were not charged.

Kenyatta, since when do you need a handgun to shoplift? Next time, unless you plan on robbin' the joint, Kenyatta, leave the gun with yobiches and you just go do the stealin', and then nobody gets hurt but The Man.
