Police Urge Home Security Alarms to Deter Burglaries

So far this year, thieves have broken into more than 5,300 Memphis homes. Security experts say if you're not doing one certain thing, you're begging burglars to come in.

The I urge people to demand harsher, heifter punishment for criminals, harsher penalties for those IN law, that break the law, & more strict guidelines for hiring 'police'.

@SteveTapp Actually they've gone completely wireless. My service just installed a wireless transmitter that makes cutting anything impossible.

And the best security system is a dog. But if the police come calling, they'll shoot it. So don't get too attached, c'mon, it's a dog, it's not like it's a family member....

Police say you need an alarm - because protecting your property is not their job - their job is protecting the revenue stream for the government. AND if you install an alarm and it goes off too many times - well, that will cost you too. But that's ok, just protecting and serving - the government, not the populace.

And you need to install a cell-phone backup or primary dialout. Landlines, whether AT&T or Comcast, are easily cut; and your wonderful neighbors you're so close to, right, will hear your tamper sirens and call in for you...if they hear them or if they care or know to call. I speak from bitter, traumatizing experience.
