Prison Officials Look to Crack Down on Contraband

You're not supposed to have cell phones, drugs, or unauthorized cigarettes in jail, but Shelby County inmates do have all of that and not because of a high-tech smuggling ring, the contraband is simply tossed over the fence.

Cell Phone Jammers. You can buy them on Amazon for cheap. that solve that problem. Any inmate caught with contraband will be revfused visitors for 2 months, and after that any visitor attempting to visit an inmate who has been caught with contraband must be strip searched before entering. And the duel fence will help. Forget the extra guards, and why arent there cameras on every square inch of the facitlities anyway? Just another way to suck up our money that should be going elsewhere...say the schools? Keep these kids more educated (and give them REAL information, not the tamed down, "I dont want to tell my precious little snowflake about the dangers of the real world" education we give them now) and less of them will end up in prison. I know this is a simplified answer, but seriously, its not that hard.

Put up a secondary fence, electrify it, add cameras so every square inch of it and the adjacent parking lot is covered, and conduct a daily FOD (foreign object damage) walkaround twice a day at random times to prevent the prisoners from figuring when they can sneak in contraband. In addition, move the bike lanes to the street nearby to get people away from the jail farm.

what a waste to the shelby county tax payers. this will cost tax payers about 1&1/2 million a year for more people to stand around. put up a real fence and make the guards you have earn there pay or replace them.
