MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) -Habitat for Humanity of Memphis' ReStore is booming with shoppers.

The ReStore has been open since June 2011, and is packed with a variety of donated items. People can browse and purchase items and all of the money goes toward future Habitat for Humanity building projects.

The goal of ReStore is to re-use unwanted items in order to keep them out of landfills. Habitat hopes to raise enough money to build five new homes in Memphis. Building materials for one home that Habitat for Humanity builds costs $70,000.

“It’s been great. Our first weekend, we raised enough money to build one house,” said ReStore manager, Joe Davidson.

They accept furniture, appliance, building materials and more. They do not accept clothing or used mattresses. ReStore is open Wed-Fri from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
