MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Balding Americans spend $2 billion each year trying to re-grow hair. Scientists now say they've found a cure that can restore hair growth.
Researchers at the University of San Francisco recently discovered a molecule which suppresses Vitamin D receptors, preventing hair growth; but they found when they suppressed that molecule the mice actually grew more hair.
Mark Young, who started balding in college, told abc24.com, "If I could have hair again that'd be cool."
Researchers say it will be years before treatments are available.
