MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - People are locking their doors and staying on alert in one of the safest areas of the Mid-South. For the second time in less than a week, robbers have targeted Mud Island residents.

"That's atrocious," said Dana Quattlebaum. "For it to happen on Mud Island, it is a pretty safe area."

"This part of Memphis is completely different so, I don't know, it is kind of devastating really," said Ramon Bradley, a college student from California who picked Mud Island for its sense of safety.

The latest incident happened early Wednesday morning at the Estates at River Pointe. A resident reported being robbed as he checked his mail.

"Real surprised, Mud Island is a place I feel safe any time day or night." said Dave Peeler, a Mud Island resident.

Memphis Police say both incidents remain under investigation. Neither victim was seriously hurt. If you have any information you're asked to call 528-CASH.

I wouldn't really consider Mud Island north Memphis. But that's likely where the crime is coming from. The north entrance.
