MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis-area restaurant chain is offering customers a chance to dine for a cause. The 3 area On The Border restaurants are donating 10% of sales on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that works to support finding a cure for breast cancer.
According to the Komen Foundation, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and is the leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide. They say 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
An area On The Border manager told abc24.com they want to make it easy for customers to help fight breast cancer, without paying any extra.
"There is no cost to our customers. All they have to do is pay normal price and we'll automatically donate 10% of every check to the Komen Foundation," said Craig Crowdis, the general manager of On The Border in Southaven. "We're asking people to just show up, eat, drink, have fun and be a part of raising funds for a great cause."
This is the 5th year of the restaurant's "Fiesta for the Cure" campaign, which has so far raised more than $1.3 million to fight breast cancer.
