RIPLEY, TN (abc24.com) - A fire broke out at a west Tennessee plastic recycling business early Tuesday morning.

The Ripley Fire Department was called to Allied Plastics on the 500-block of Washington around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27. There were some employees present, but no injuries were reported.

The plant grinds plastic car parts into pebbles, which are then sold to manufacturers to be made into new auto trim parts.

Ripley is about 50 miles north of Memphis and has about 8,000 residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; fire officials said a lack of water hampered their crew's efforts to battle it. Firefighters from Ripley, Lauderdale County and Tipton County were called to the scene.
