LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A tornado watch has been posted for 45 Arkansas counties as a cold front sweeps in from the west.

The National Weather Service issued the watch for all but far northwest Arkansas and parts of southern Arkansas. The watch area includes Little Rock, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Mena, Harrison, Mountain Home, Jonesboro and Pine Bluff. It stretches as far south as Camden and Monticello.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says a cold front approaching from the Plains states is meeting up with warm, moist air that has been blowing in from the south for much of Wednesday.

The weather service says the atmosphere will become unstable and a line of storms is expected to sweep through the region Wednesday night.

The watch is in effect until 2 a.m.
