TIPTON COUNTY, TN (abc24.com) - Tipton County sheriff's deputies arrested 3 men for theft after stopping a car for a routine moving violation.
The Tipton County Sheriff's office says 31-year-old Elvis Hester was driving on a suspended license when he made the mistake that led to his arrest. In addition to Hester, Christopher Palmer, 36, and Rodney Williams, 35, were also arrested.
Authorities say that the deputy saw security wire still attached to the boxes of 8 flatscreen TVs, 2 portable DVD players and several other items found in the car.
Detectives found out the property was taken from a Walmart in Dyersburg, TN. That Walmart had surveillance video of the three men that showed them clearly and wearing the same clothes as when they were pulled over.
Hester has been charged with theft of property, driving on a suspended license and driving on the wrong side of the road. Williams and Palmer were each charged with theft of property.
The three men are also suspects in several similar business robberies in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.
