MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A severance package has been approved for Memphis City Schools' Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash.

Countywide school board members approved it Thursday during a special meeting.

Cash will continue in an advisory capacity through July. At that time, he will continue to receive his regular salary for six months. Cash will also get moving and legal expenses totaling $17,000.

The decision effectively makes Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. John Aitken the leader of both districts for now until a new one is named next month.
