School Board to County Commission: We Want $145 Million

After weeks of talks about cutting education programs in a new unified school system, Memphis/Shelby County school board members voted Tuesday night to try a different approach: ask for more money instead.

Tomeka, if I as a childless senior citizen may have a little input: Keep it to the basics, because really parents ought to pay all the costs of educating their offspring, but if we are to have this form of modern Socialism that is public education, then don't let parents' or childrens' special pleadings for "enrichment" programs impoverish the rest of us in the County.
