MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - FBI agents in Memphis say sex trafficking is a huge problem in Memphis and Shelby County. In the last two weeks two Memphis men have been charged with sex trafficking.

"It's a very lucrative business," FBI Special Agent Tracey Harris-Branch told abc24.com. "In Memphis and Shelby County sex trafficking has definitely become more and more significant."

She says the way pimps do business has changed. Instead of putting these young girls on the typical prostitution tracks, she says they're using the internet.

"It eliminates the radar of detecting minors walking on prostitution tracks," she said.

According to Branch, sex trafficking has always been a problem in Shelby County. But, "the reason you're seeing a lot more activity is because we have become more aggressive in identifying and prosecuting these individuals," she said.

Agent Branch adds that men find the business of prostitution more attraction than selling drugs because "you can sell a kilogram of cocaine one time, but when it comes to selling sex of these vulnerable girls you can sell that thousands and thousands of times."
