Shelby County Mayor to Give Bonus Pay Despite Debt

Shelby County is a billion dollars in debt, but county workers are still getting bonuses this year. Mayor Mark Luttrell says it's all thanks to a nine-percent budget surplus.

This is bad economic policy and a suck-up to a group very important to him but much smaller than all Shelby County taxpayers. Things like this will guarantee Luttrell has peaked in the level of public office he will attain: the Peter Principle at work.
