MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Donnell Phillips lives two houses down from the house where Memphis Police say 23-year old Ronnie Wilkerson killed his niece, six-month-old Anaya Jones. He told abc24.com, "I know I heard a lot of commotion I thought it was like a domestic dispute or something, nothing like that."
Wilkerson was arrested and charged with killing his niece.
According to Memphis Police, on December 9, 2011, Wilkerson shook Anaya three separate times. The last time she became unresponsive. Anaya was rushed to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital where she died two days later.
"How you gonna kill your niece, and that's your family?" asked Phillips in disbelief.
Wilkerson has been charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and First Degree Murder. He's being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail.
