MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman was shot after gunfire rang out around noon in Binghampton on December 6, 2011. The woman wasn't seriously injured, but the shooting shook up the entire neighborhood.
Johnny Worrell has been living on Nathan Street in Binghampton for over 30 years. He said the distinct sound of gunfire made him jump off the couch.
"It sounded like it came from a machine gun or something like that," he said.
Another witness was standing in the front door of his home on Nathan. He heard the gunshots coming down the street, and saw a woman hit when the bullets ricocheted and struck her.
The 33 year old female victim didn't want to talk to abc24.com, but she was able to walk away from a scary situation with only minor injuries.
Residents said it's normally pretty quiet around their neighborhood and hope this incident is just a one time occurrence.
The shooting is under investigation by Memphis Police. So far, there are no suspects in custody.
