SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) They’re expecting fireworks and a record crowd at Tuesday night’s Southaven Board of Aldermen meeting.

It’s the first meeting Mayor Greg Davis will preside over the meeting since the end of December and since he was asked by the board to resign.

People started signing up days ago to speak the meeting, eager for the chance to address Davis in person. The public has plenty to say to Davis; what we don’t know is if he will respond.

On January 30, 2012, Davis stated at a press conference, "I will not be answering any questions at this time."

The big question is, will answer them now? Southaven citizens expect to give Davis an earful.

"We’re preparing for some fireworks I guess," said Southaven Alderman Ronnie Hale. "We know some people are angry and upset and they’re going to want and ask, even demand, answers from the mayor."

Mayor Davis has been back at work for over a week, refusing to talk to the media and available by appointment only. He has not stated if he plans to respond to the public comments at the board meeting.

"I’m sure he will if he can, but I really don’t know what his intentions are," Hale said.

Southaven City Hall can hold 200 people, which includes an overflow room where they can watch what’s happening on a live stream. Each speaker will be given two or three minutes to talk, and they must live in Southaven.

Also on the agenda is the selection a new Mayor Pro Tem. Alderman-at-Large Greg Guy is stepping down from that spot. The board will vote on his replacement, who will likely be Alderman Lorine Cady, one of the most experienced board members.

For those who can't make it to the meeting but want to keep up with what’s happening, it will be streamed live online starting at 6:00pm at southaven.org.
