JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has asked a Hinds County judge to return to him the $96,000 he paid to the state amid allegations of misspending city money.

Davis filed a motion in Hinds County Chancery Court, where he is locked in a dispute with State Auditor Stacey Pickering over repayment of the funds.

Pickering has sought to garnish Davis' salary to collect the $73,000 Davis still owes. A judge temporarily stopped Pickering from doing that.

Davis had raised the $96,000 from supporters. Pickering turned the money back to the city in August.

In his Oct. 3 motion, Davis says the auditor's office made the demand for repayment for the expenses without conducting an audit.

Davis has not been charged with a crime.

maybe he is going to give the money to his wife to cover the "hidden assets" she is carrying his dumb butt back to court over.Or it may be going to his bankrupt partners in crime.

If they didn't perform an audit, how did we get the hilariously detailed list of expenses he submitted for reimbursement? What a dope.
