SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Frustration grows in Southaven as citizens wonder how many scandals Mayor Greg Davis can weather.
"I think he's pushing his luck," said Cindy Asquino, a Southaven resident. "It is not his personal lifestyle I'm talking about, it is his arrogance about the whole thing."
The fact is, it is hard to recall an elected official in Mississippi. There is currently no way to recall an elected official. If convicted of a felony, an elected official would be forced to resign, but that hasn't happened in this case.
That doesn't mean there hasn't been an effort to force him out.
In early January, the Board of Aldermen voted to ask him to resign. Residents have packed meetings calling on him to resign as well.
"It should be quite interesting, and why not a little excitement in the neighborhood," said Cary Doehring.
Davis remains under civil and criminal investigation related to his use of city-issued credit cards.
