SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) A man was shot in Southaven by his teenage son on November 20, 2011 after the father made threats to his family.
Southaven Police were called to reports of a shooting on the 5800 block of Westminster Lane. Investigators stated that the man had been separated from his wife for several months, and came by her home when a verbal fight broke out. The man left and came back, and began beating on the door to get inside the home.
The man’s wife, their 16-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter had all locked themselves into a back room of the house when the man started making threats and kicking on the door. The teenage son then fired several shots through the door with a 9mm handgun, striking his father twice.
The man was located at the Horn Lake Fire Department being treated for his injuries. He was airlifted to The MED in Memphis by Airwing in critical condition.
The incident is under investigation, and pending review by the Desoto County District Attorney.
