HERNANDO, Miss. (AP, abc24.com) - A special judge and prosecutor are expected to be named in Southaven Mayor Greg Davis' misdemeanor traffic case after all local Justice Court judges recused themselves.

DeSoto County Justice Court Clerk Shirley Beshears tells The Commercial Appeal on Tuesday she has submitted paperwork to have Circuit Court Judge Robert Chamberlin appoint a special judge and prosecutor from another district.

Davis is charged with overtaking a school bus and illegal use of blue and red lights on his private vehicle in connection with a March 22 incident involving a stopped school bus in Southaven.

Davis pleaded not guilty in May to the charges during a brief Justice Court appearance.

Davis also remains under investigation for spending of city funds that has prompted an ongoing state audit and criminal investigation.
