The highest ranking law enforcement official in the State of Mississippi issues a letter. In his letter he says there is nothing wrong with the payments: they were approved by the Board and included in the budget. The Southaven board responds by saying "that doesn't change a thing", and they submit a second letter hoping for the answer they want rather than the one they already got. Now I see the problem. You've got a Board of Idiots who have no clue what they're doing. The Board of Idiots approved the spending and the budget. Now they're in the news and want to rethink. I love Southern "Christian values".

I think there's some wishful thinking involved here. I live in Southaven and have witnessed no "squirming". A lot of jokes at the Mayor's expense but I've not encountered one resident who's uncomfortable with him because of his companion preferences. Perhaps you live in Memphis and are smothered by the ongoing political and criminal issues to truly understand issues in nearby cities? Even Hernando has a mayor with an alternate lifestyle, it's not a big deal! However, a LOT of citizens are beside themselves with anger over the corruption however. As Memphis demonstrates, corruption affects all political parties. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Herenton was not a conservative. The fiscal irresponsibility of the Southaven mayor and board is inexcusable and they need to be replaced. This has nothing to do with his personal life.

It's pretty impressive how long it takes to get nothing accomplished. It's also impressive that Davis still makes the news every day. I think that ReligionStinks has the right idea. Let's just sit back and enjoy the circus because it is hilarious.

He is corrupt and should resign. That said, I love watching the suburban right wing "Christians" of that area squirm because their oepnly GAY mayor won't disappear. Ha!

"How does one come by such a job"? Well, they run as a Republican. In Mississippi, the people actually believe that the Republican party was anointed by a deity. Such dark-age troglodytes have difficulty distinguishing reality from fairy tale, therefore, they vote party rather than character or common sense.

Making more money than the governor does sound a bit odd. But as long as they don't extend him the power to release convicted felons I'm OK with it. How do you come by such a job?
