MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The uncle of a student at Christian Brothers University was arrested for pretending to be a student and threatening to blow up the trains that ran by the dormitory.
According to the police affidavit, CBU Police Director John Lotrionte received a phone call from a blocked number on Tuesday, October 23. The male caller claimed to be a student who said he was tired of the nighttime train traffic that ran past his dorm room, and he was going to make a bomb from fertilizer to blow up the train tracks.
Lotrionte contacted CBU officers, administrators, railroad police and the FBI about the threat. Investigators were told by the caller's sister, whose son is a student at CBU, that her brother had made the phone call.
On October 25, 38-year-old Gordon Holly, III wrote an apology to the university and admitted to the phone call. He was charged with False Reporting and booked at the Shelby Country Jail on $5,000 bond.
