MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting a taxi driver Tuesday night.

Officers say video from inside the taxi showed Yellow Cab driver Kevin Grills picking up 37-year-old Timothy Aldridge near Vance and Lauderdale around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14. While Grills was driving, Aldridge fired several shots at Grills from the backseat, causing him to crash into a fire hydrant. Aldridge then climbed out of the backseat and went through Grills' pockets.

Aldridge fled before police arrived. Grills, 50, was transported to The MED in extremely critical condition, but died a short time later.

Timothy Aldridge was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of Aggravated Robbery. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court August 17.

I think drug played a big part he wanted a quick fix not race anyone in that seat would be a victim

Should be a hate crime since the cabbie was white. If the races were reversed, Jesse, Al and Obama would be marching in the skreets.

That type of lawless, vigilante mentality is fodder for 3rd world countries. If that is how you wish to live, I hear property and taxes are real cheap in Sudan. Fortunately, we are a nation of laws. Laws that protect ALL citizens, even ones accused of heinous crimes. Making references to "Liberal lawyers" as if that is some valid argument, shows a complete ignorance of our justice system. Further, such right-wing dog-whistle phrases, like "Liberal lawyer," indicate a lack of knowledge in general.

why do we continue to allow this type of tragedy go unpunished. this man should be executed like tomorrow..... the proof is already there so what do we need to discuss in a trial ? i dont care why the animal did it - he did it he should die.....in stead some sorry azz liberial laywer will plead for his " rough life " defense and this - yet another burden will be placed on society. taxpayers should have one final cost for this animal = .50 cents ( 1 bullet ).
