MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - One suspect is behind bars for holding a man and his two sons hostage in a Hickory Hill area home invasion late Tuesday night.
Memphis police were called to a home invasion in progress on the 4300-block of Crystal View Cove just after midnight on Wednesday, September 5. When officers arrived, they saw a suspect forcing a man to the ground inside the house, who then fled with another suspect as soon as they realized police were there.
According to the affidavit, two suspects had kicked in the garage door and cut a hole in the wall to get inside the house while the homeowner was gone. They found one of the homeowner's teenage sons asleep and pointed a gun to his head and tried to tie him up; when the homeowner came home a suspect pistol-whipped him and tied him up with a phone cord. A second son, 14, was also held by the suspects.
Officers spotted one suspect, 37-year-old Ramone Curry, running from the scene, and apprehended him in a nearby backyard after a brief chase. Police are still searching for the second suspect.
Ramone Curry is charged with three counts of Aggravated Kidnapping and two counts of Attempted Aggravated Robbery, as well as Aggravated Burglary, Evading Arrest, Felon in Possession of a Handgun and Employment of a Firearm. Curry is being held on $500,000 bond at the Shelby County Jail.
