Suspect Charged with Murder by Downtown Church

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police have charged a suspect with First Degree Murder for the death of woman found by a downtown-area church Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to St. Mary's Catholic Church on Market Avenue around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6. When they arrived, they found a female on the ground bleeding from her head. The victim, later identified at 67-year-old Gwendolyn Jackson, was pronounced on the scene.

On Thursday, June 7, investigators tracked down 50-year-old Michael Mullins and charged him with First Degree Murder for Jackson's death. Mullins is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 15.
