MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis man is behind bars, accused of raping two young runaway girls at a downtown Memphis motel.
Memphis Police were called to the Motel 6 on South Pauline St and Eastmoreland Ave on January 18, 2012. According to the affidavit, two 12-year-old runaway girls told officers they were offered marijuana and a place to stay by 28-year-old Antonio Durham. The suspect got a room at the Motel 6, where he tried to engage in sex with one of the girls, but she refused. After she fell asleep, the second girl smoked weed with Durham then engaged in sex with him, but once it started she tried to get him to stop, according to her statement to investigators.
Officers went to Durham's midtown home, and found key cards for the Motel 6 room in his pocket.
Antonio Durham was arrested and charged with Aggravated Sexual Battery and Rape of a Child. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 30th.
